This journal contains five articles. In the first article, psychologists Gil Clary, Mark Snyder, anad Robert Ridge offer a new methodology for characterizing and measuring the motivations of volunteers. They demonstrate how this methodology can be used to develop strategies for recruitment, placement and retention of volunteers. The other four titles are as follows volunteers motivation: a functional strategy for the recruitment, placement, and retention of volunteers; Moral responsibilities of trustees: some first thoughts; coping by nonprofit organizations during the reagan years, funding uncertainty and nonprofit strategies in the 1980s; and Relating values to management practice.
